A Father's Journey Became a Mission
I was excited to become a father. Having already experienced the role of a stepfather, I looked forward to beginning this new chapter and building a life with my son.
Shortly after my son was born, however, my life changed in ways I had not expected. I became a single father while also dealing with the decline of my business and the loss of part of our household income. Suddenly, I was responsible for caring for my child while trying to maintain housing, meet our basic needs, and find a way forward.

I did not have all the answers. I stumbled, struggled, and started searching for help. I looked for programs that could assist with housing, food, finances, and the many other challenges that can affect a single-parent family. What I discovered was that assistance existed, but resources clearly presented for fathers were often difficult to find.
Eventually, my son and I moved into an apartment, and I relied on available government assistance while working to regain stability. Accepting help was part of taking care of my family. It gave me an opportunity to begin rebuilding, one step at a time.
That experience stayed with me. I continued thinking about fathers who might be facing similar circumstances but did not know where to turn. The more I researched, the more I understood how difficult it could be to locate reliable information in one place. I wanted to make that journey easier for other fathers.
That commitment became the Daddy and Dylan Project, named for the journey my son and I have shared.
Our purpose is to help fathers raising children in single-parent households connect with trustworthy resources for housing, food, utilities, employment, legal assistance, parenting support, counseling, transportation, and emergency needs. By bringing this information together, we hope fathers can spend less time searching and take meaningful steps toward greater stability for themselves and their children.
This work is personal to me because I understand what it feels like to need help, search for answers, and continue moving forward when the path is uncertain. My story is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about perseverance, responsibility, fatherhood, and turning a difficult experience into an opportunity to help others.
If you are a father looking for assistance, I want you to know that asking for help is not a failure. It can be the first step toward building a more stable future for your family.
You do not have to know every step ahead. You only need a place to begin.
